Symbolic Imagery

This new direction in my work I refer to as "symbolic imagery". I work in Mexico some of the year and have been inspired this year with masks. After a period of working with the figure and the ideas of transitions, the new work started with abstractions and words and digital line drawings. I then progressed into photos and imagery of "things" which have meaning to me as symbols. Face masks - representing the mystery of life: "whose mask is this?", "who am I?", "who does the world see me as?" or "mystery of life" face. Flowers - grace, life, growing, beauty. Apple and fruit - food and sustenance, money-necessities, and more. Abundance, red lips, love.
